House of Harlow

April showers bring...

May flowers...

So how 'bout some free lovin' 60's
flower child inspiration to get
us all in the mood?

wild wasteland

Yeah, baby, yeahhhhhh.
Here are 7 ideas get you bloomin.

idea no. 1...WEAR A DARING LIP COLOR

Lovin this modern take on flower power
with dramatic red lips and wild hair.

idea no. 2...DARK GLASSES WORK WITH THE LOOK

One Girl is crazy about Vanessa Mooney
designed jewelry, and these next
few images were lifted from
their gorgeous blog.

idea no. 3...BRAIDS and HIPPIE SKIRTS

Both pixies and crazy long hair
were fashionable in the Sixties,
and braids pair perfectly with boho chic
clothing and prairie skirts with a hippie vibe.

idea no. 4...BE TOO LAZY TO BRAID. PIN ON A CORSAGE.

A girl doesn't always have time
for braids or styling.
This works with any length of hair, btw.

idea no. 5...STEP INTO ONE GIRL FOR FAB

We've got tons of options for wardrobe,
and a wristful of bangles will never
go out of style.

idea no. 6...COLORS OF THE RAINBOW

How boring would it be if
flowers came in just one hue???
Flower children aren't careful
about matching colors either.

idea no. 7...HEADBANDS

You've been seeing them on everybody,
and they just have fun written all over 'em.

One bonus idea for capturing flower power...
find peace within yourself so you
are able to genuinely apply it
to your daily life.

ingredients for CALM

 As we usher out February
with its sweetness
(or sweet chaos?),
it's as good
a time as ever
to focus our attention
on finding more
C A L M
in our
everyday
lives.

Okay, I'm not sure
how a love for fashion
and calm jive exactly...

but aren't these 5 ingredients
kinda perfect?

Vanessa Mooney

SIMPLIFY.
This can mean any number of things,
but in terms of your wardrobe, may
I suggest stopping into the shop
where I can make suggestions
for a few pieces that can
simplify dressing yourself?

And how about simplifying some
of the rooms in your home?

This bedroom is a testament to how just a
few simple objects can lead to calm.

BE INSPIRED.
Ooooooh, One Girl has oodles
of ideas for helping you with
inspiration as well...
come see our
Vanessa Mooney
goodness!

How does inspiration lead to
CALM?
Check out the above.
A little gold,
a little crystal,
a little calm.

BE ORIGINAL.
Ya know?
When you decide
to let go of
following the pack
and get your
creative juices flowing
by giving your life
(and wardrobe and attitude)
its own signature,
you just may
discover
new freedom,
new calm.

Don't be afraid to mix it up
and explore unexpected
combinations when
it comes to
your fashion
and home.

WORK HARD.
Calm often follows
the contented feeling
which comes from
diligent hard work.

* * *

And there's a good chance
you will enjoy the hard
days at work if you feel
awesome in your
ensembles.

ENJOY.
Oh, enjoy your life
to find your calm!
Enjoy your pets
who so naturally
lower blood pressure
and bring peace.

max

Enjoy all those little things that
aren't really little at all.

And here's a 6th bonus ingredient
for calm:

Carve out plenty of time to
let yourself dream.

Peace.

white christmas

The merry day is almost here,
and One Girl hopes
to spread good cheer.

Even if that means bustin'
rhymes no mid-life mama
in the fashion biz ought
to bust.

Hege in France Christmas 2012

Fine.
I'm feelin charitable so I'll spare you.
Because Christmas is about...

generosity, and wait for it...

opening your heart,

tasting deliciousness,

savoring simple pleasures,

and finding peace
in a season
of
rebirth
and
love.

It's about opening our minds,
and in some cases...

and gratitude we feel.

This year I am choosing to celebrate
my loved ones who continue to
inspire me with their courage
and understanding.

You give me wings.
Do you know this?

With hearts wide open,
OG wishes you a very Merry Christmas
and a fabulous 2013.

Peace.

across the universe

10 days 'til Christmas.
Your brain is possibly on overload with
to-do lists, holiday concerts,
and travel plans.

While it's the most magical time of the
year, it's also craptastic, isn't it?

If you find yourself low on holiday magic this year,
I'm sharing some unique inspiration
to shake up your perspective and maybe
even bring a little hope.

Warning:
This may rock your world.

Because no matter where we're at
physically,
emotionally,
or spiritually,
no matter how screwed
up and evil
fellow human beings
can become...
at this very moment
a truth we can cling to is
that this planet of ours
is
magnificent.

Big: Valley of desert in Iran

Right?
Just look at the earth!
It's not abstract art...it's a satellite photo from NASA.

An amazing place
to call home, yet sometimes
our culture,
our greed,
and our sins,
blind us to the vast beauty.

a glacier icecap

This giant blueberry earth, which is just one
tiny part of the universe, is masterfully created.

So are you.

No matter how much your arms do
or do not look like this.

Regardless of the size of the bling on your sweet finger.

Despite how blue your skin has turned.
Wait.
What?

You were made masterfully.
Need more convincing?

Take a peek at
microscopic images taken of
structures deep within your brain.

With me?
We're movin' from the universe
'out there' to worlds within you.

tiny: golgi stain inside a brain

Inside your brain is breathtaking beauty.

(Told ya this would rock your world.)

It's easy to get caught up in the middle
so that often we
lose sight of how we fit in with the
big and small of it all.

(You look good in the middle, btw,
and just a reminder it's not too late
to find the perfect gift at OG!)

One size fits all!

Do you find thinking about
the loveliness of the universe
in harmony
with invisible worlds in our skulls
nothing short of magical?

It turns out we are...
all of us...
gorgeous inside.

One more thing...

Our hearts at OG are heavy with sorrow for
the families in Connecticut, and
our thoughts are with them.

Here's to being intentional
about seeing your life,
this earth,
and this season,
with fresh eyes.

Peace.
