5 winter wishes

It was my turn to blow out the candles
for another birthday yesterday, but this year
you get the wishes, k?

1.
I wish you the wonder of children.

No matter what your age,
may you notice the
magic of these
fleeting
December
days,

 the beauty of nature,

 and the sweetness
of the season.

2.
I wish you deliciousness.

May you sample
the tastes of
the holidays,

discovering new treats,

and savoring the warmth of the past.

3.
I wish you fashion to thrill the senses.

Whether your idea of high drama
is a mile-long train,

RESERVED for Stacy K

a cape with hand-formed ruffles,

or a simple LBD

with killer pumps...
mix it up with pieces that make
your dreams come true
(our specialty at One Girl).

4.
I wish you friendship.

“Friendship is born at that moment
when one
person says to another:

'What! You too? I thought I was the only one.'”

C.S. Lewis

5.
I wish you a safe journey.

Wherever life is taking you these days,

may you enjoy the trip
in good company,
knowing there is always
light ahead.

This year on my birthday, I get to
experience new clarity about how far I have come
and all the good that is in store since I believe:

"Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." ~Leroy "Satchel" Paige

 and also:

"You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope,
as old as your despair."
 ~Douglas MacArthur

 Peace.

find your STRONG

Mornin', sunshine.
* * *
Have you heard what the
buzzword for fall/winter
fashion is this year?

Vogue tells us it is
S T R E N G T H.

I love that.
My thoughts today are turning
toward finding our strengths...
not just fashionably,
but physically and otherwise.

RUN:Top Speed Tank

I will!

Ya know?

A couple of years ago, I set out to find mine,
and if you had told me I would get
into the best shape of my life,
I wouldn't have believed you.

I'm a believer now!
That's the funny thing about working out.
About chasing down a dream.

RUN:Runder Under LS

No matter what your age or size,
your body is going to thank you for it.
Not just by lookin more fierce, but by becoming more resilient.

With the signature lip color, the “No Doubt For It” singer, Gwen Stefani, was seen walking in London on May 10.

It was fun surfing for these images
of celebrities en route to the gym
not just to spy
fashion inspiration
but
because I liked the reminders
that even the most
rich and privileged
among us
have
to work up a sweat
to get there.

Surrrrrre a little nip and tuck
can be a fabulous help
for some folks.
But it won't result in
STRENGTH.

The “Black Swan” actress, Mila Kunis, arrived at the gym in Boston on May 23 wearing black cropped leggings, a gray cardigan and big sunglasses

And this is the point of the post
where I shut up and let you
be inspired by women
just like us
finding their strong.

The singer and actress Julianne Hough looks so hot in a purple tank shirt, pink sports bra and black leggings. The photo was captured as the star had a jog in Miami Beach on May 21.

The “Friday Night Lights” actress Minka Kelly looks so stylish when she was on her way to comeback home from the gym in New York City on May 20.

Note to self:
must find a similar umbrella.

During the filming of “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” in Pittsburgh, the rising star Emma Watson attend the gym in black cropped leggings and gray hoodie on May21.

I will definitely share more with you
about this topic, and if you're
in the mood for some
chick chat...

it would be a pleasure
to talk strength, fitness,
and what can we do to
enhance yours
at One Girl.

Peace.

5 Fun FALL Accessories

Hello, blogworld...

I mentioned recently that what's hot
this season is STRENGTH.
So here are 5 ideas for expressing it
via commanding (but fun!) accessories.
1.
AUTHORITATIVE BOOTS

What makes 'em strong?

Do I really need to spell it out?
I didn't think so.
Heavy and sometimes above the knee,
the runways tell us they can be
worn with anything, and
we already knew that.

2.
ANIMAL PRINTS

Now this is a trend that is just not
going anywhere...so go ahead
and invest.

Strong like zebra, mama.

2.
BAROQUE

Strong and sumptuous velvets.
Ornate metallic detailing.
Baroque transforms simple pieces.

So will you go for baroque?
I should be smacked repeatedly for that.

3.
COLORFUL FUR

Not to get all warm and fuzzy,
but what is not to like about
fur in multiple colors
(especially when it is created by Dior)?

Allow me to rephrase.
Colorful fur makes a strrrroooooong
statement when you wanna have fun
with fashion.

4.
ARTSY TECHY BLING
 Kate Spade

Why skimp on bling for your phone?
And wouldn't this cover be exceptionally
cooler if the letters OG graced
the top right corner?

Skins for your phone just make
T-Bombing*
THAT more fun.

*Translation: Texting.

Look who has a naked phone.

5.
SCARVES SCARVES SCARVES!

Yes, please.
It takes strength to wear a scarf
in a creative way, don't you think?

How sweet is this lil petite fashionista
in her ta-die-for tie dye lovely?

Thanks for indulging me as I continue to push
the envelope...let's keep enjoying
the changing seasons and the
opportunities to accessorize
and layer!

Peace.
